App Fest: Nighty Night, the bedtime story app for children

How have you been this week? Ready for Christmas? I seriously can’t believe it is this WEEK! Where does time go…..

Meanwhile as I say time is speeding up, where I spend a lot of my time these days is sitting in the obstetrician’s waiting room for hours and hours!!!! Thank goodness for magazines and phones.

However this week I came across this stat I wanted to share with you:

“Nearly 40% of mums say sleeping through is the baby milestone they are most anticipating ahead of even crawling or talking” * Love to dream survey

Sleep has never been as important when you become a parent, so with this theme I thought I would share a bedtime app recommended by one of our readers Brodie.

“Nighty Night!” is the perfect app for a daily go-to-sleep ritual with cute animals, sweet lullaby music and great narration. Its simplicity is what makes it engaging and with over 3 million downloads there has got to be something about this app! The animation is beautifully designed by Oscar nominated animator Heidi Wittlinger and is designed for children 1 – 4 years of age.

Your child gets to tap on the rooms in the house (or barn) that still have lights on and then once they enter the room they get to turn off the light and put the animal to bed. Simple right? Yes very – but little Miss Raj is just fascinated by it and it gives them a nice lesson on when the lights off you go to sleep – YES PLEASE!!!!!

So I wish you a wonderful festive week and I also wish you many nights of unbroken sleep to enjoy (and recover) from the season!

P.S Do you find these recommendations helpful? Would you like to see more of App Fest in 2014? Let me know in the comments box below or email me.

P.SS -Don’t forget offer that ends this week!!! The lovely people at dish’d have given a $50 dish’d voucher to give away to one lucky reader to try yourself. Just leave a comment on this post to go into the draw and let know “What about the dish’d service appeals to you?”
